Sales promotion and Personal selling

Chanel is an expensive brand and they don't offer many of sales because they have high standard products that are bought mostly by people with higher incomes. Clothing that are from past seasons have lower prices because people don't want to buy them (Fashionistas), clothing that is trendy cannot be lowered down unless is two years old or 1 season old. Chanel's fragrances and make up, usually have a gift with purchase,  Example: If you buy Chanel Chance you can get a body lotion and small perfume. Chanel has events when they launch their line or open a new store, they give the guests Chanel products , which lets the guest know what the new product is and show them that the product is trust worthy. Chanel opened their new Soho store in Fashion's Night Out 2010 , many celebrities were at the opening, the line of customers was long, people could meet Karl Lagerfeld and celebrities at the opening which caught the attention of many people. This event gave people the chance to interact with the Famous Designer. I was one of the people, meeting Karl Lagerfeld was of the best memories, this event showed people was Chanel is all about besides their bags and clothing, the offered free samples and the service was great. Chanel products are sold in Big department stores such as: Macy's, Saks at Fifth Ave and more. Macy's offers great deals on Chanel's perfumes since their customers get a greater value , they tend to shop Chanel's cosmetics or perfumes at this department store. Chanel has good quality products which allows a good relationship with customer (brand loyalty), their clothing is beautiful and gives the customer the feeling that they can feel great wearing their brand.

Advertising and Public Relations

Chanel is one of the most luxurious brands and the world. The famous Chanel logo is Coco Channels Initials, this logo is one of the most famous logos out there, where ever you see that logo, you know is Chanel. Every product the make has the Chanel logo, last week I went to a Vintage shop and I saw a tiny Chanel logo on one of their flats, this shows how much the logo means to the customer. Chanel Campaigns are simple and sophisticated , they used famous people in their Ads like Nicole Kidman.the Famous colors are Black and white, on the website and stores you will always see balck and white, these colors have become their Brand colors. Chanel has been featured in the most famous magazine VOGUE and it gives them more publicity.

Retail (Additional Information)

Chanel is an specialty store, this year Chanel presented  their kids and men's collection in their Spring 2011 Fashion Show. On Sunday October 17,2010 ,I visited Two Chanel Stores , one in Sacks at Fifth Ave and the Flagship store which is located in 57th St And 5th ave, these two store were different even thought they are Chanel. I've been to the Sacks at Fifth ave many times but this time was different because I wasn't buying anything and when I got to the little Chanel store, there was only one Sales associate , I started looking for Bags and I couldn't find them, when I asked the lady to help me she ignored me , this shows that because I'm a young girl the sales associate didn't think I would buy it so she didn't want to help me. After that store I went to the Chanel Flagship store in 57th St, when I went in I saw the woman that helped me last time buying my bag and I told her that I was doing a report about the Chanel retail stores , she was happy to help me because she remembered me from last time, she said the following " The customer service in this store has to be great because many tourists , rich people and middle class come here , we have to assist them good and be their personal shoppers, we get paid to give a good service, people mostly buy bags, the clothing is so expensive to the middle class so they rather buy a bag instead because our bags are durable and they can hold any weight. Visual merchandising people come all the time and re-do the store so it looks good and different every time a customer comes in , we love to help people and we get paid buy doing that". Chanel needs to evaluate their sales associate , they need to see how they are first and then hire them because they are not giving the right attention to their customers.

Chanel is commonly known as an expensive store, their signature colors (Black&White) are known and recognizable by everyone. They only sell at Retail Stores, their stores are all black and white , the Staff wears only black or white clothes , they have to have be sophisticated and simple just like the brand. Chanel stores look luxurious ,their interior design is high class and their product presentation is glamorous. Chanel has kept their stores at Main Cities such as New York , Beverly Hills , Paris , Madrid, etc. Their products are not affordable to middle class since they range from $1000 and up. Customer Service is one of a kind since they are like personal shoppers making the shopping experience unforgettable and making the customer like they have a stylist , their staff is well trained about the products and they give a good image to their company. Karl Lagerfeld has a close bond with Anna Wintour ( Vogue's Chief in Editor) and she has featured Products in their photographs , making Chanel bigger. Chanel is one of the biggest brands, their designs and taste have put them to the top. Chanel is different from other brands and they have made their products known, Many celebrities wear their clothes and some of them make it to the Ads , Nicole Kidman has been in many Ads for Chanel and the new French actress featured in the film "Coco Before Chanel" is one of the new faces fro the brand. Chanel keeps expanding and making sure that their customers get the best service.

Social Responsibility - Abercombrie & Fitch issue (Late)

In 2002, Abercrombie & Fitch sold a shirt that featured the slogan "Wong Brothers Laundry Service—Two Wongs Can Make It White" with smiling figures in conical straw hats, a depiction of early Chinese Immigrants. The Company later on took out the products and apologized. In that same year , Abercombrie Kids removed a line of thongs sold for pre-teen , they removed after parents protested. Abercombrie has made headlines because of their clothing.

Consumer Decision Making

The House of Chanel is known as an "expensive brand". Many customers fear to even look at their products because of the cost, Chanel has made Ads and products that will Target to different customers and that will take away the "expensive brand " label that customers give the company.
Chanel's designs are simple and sophisticated, they still put Gabrielle Chanel's design signature on their products. Customers know that Chanel makes products that will never be forgotten. Chanel Customers are exposed to external stimulus,Chanel has made clothing that attracts them , excellent Fashion photographs and great advertising. Even Thought Chanel is an expensive brand,  everyone has at least one Chanel product, it can be a perfume, skin care products, make up, shoes.. etc. This Brand knows what the next trend will be , the Fashion Forecast has always being right and many designers have applied Chanel's trends to their collection. Chanel Customers are loyal because they know that the products are good quality and they also know know that they are timeless pieces. Chanel is a high fashion brand that knows what the customers want and they also know how to dress modern women, this brand has made their name known internationally, their name on a product shows that the product is good quality because Chanel knows what good quality is and how to make their pieces desired by name women. Chanel has Launched their new Kids and men's collection for Spring 2011, many critics review this as a genius idea for the company, their new collections every year make the crowd desperate to get their new designs and their brand even better.

Chanel originally started In France with designer Gabrielle Chanel , the success of the company was big and   buyers from another countries and continents wanted to buy their good because of their unique designs and quality, they saw the opportunity that they public gave them and they started to make their brand internationally famous. Over the years Chanel is opening more stores in different countries and they are opening more to the public. The handbags and their perfume make them more globally famous, they have gained more customers over the years. Chanel is one of the most expensive brands and they range from $1.000 and up, they have challenges because of their prices since we are going through a depression , they try to get the public through their classic designs and their fashion forward clothing. 

Chanel operates over 200 Chanel boutiques worldwide.The locations are found in upscale shopping districts, upscale department stores and malls, and inside major airports.
